The East Fork Fire (center) started in the Apalachicola National Forest in western Florida on April 4, 2004, and by April 11 had grown to 14,600 acres. Ironically, burn-out activities (controlled burning to remove vegetation in the fire's path) were hampered by high humidity in the region, but the overall cloudiness and increased humidity also decreased fire activity.
